A message from Nutrition Services:
August 25, 2021
The COVID-19 pandemic has brought tremendous transformation and challenges to school nutrition programs. While it highlighted how much we can accomplish under periods of great stress, it also revealed the instability of food supply systems across the country and the ripple effect that occurs when supply chains are disrupted. Manufacturers are continuing to experience scarcity of raw materials, labor shortages, and many Distributors are unable to maintain a supply of K-12 food items.
NMUSD Nutrition Services is not immune to these industrywide, ongoing supply chain issues. While we are doing all we can to minimize impact and maintain the level of food service parents and students are accustomed to, these circumstances greatly affect product availability, which thereby affect our planned menus. It is for these reasons that NMUSD has elected to not post detailed menus, as we cannot guarantee what is on a menu on any given day is what will actually be served.
While we cannot predict when these circumstances will change, we assure you that we remain completely dedicated to offering students meals that are nutritious and meet the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) meal pattern requirements. We thank you for your on-going flexibility and continued patience as we navigate these challenges and find unique solutions during these unprecedented times.
